Mission

The mission of UQAM’s International Clinic for the Defense of Human Rights (the CIDDHU) is to promote human rights by supporting civil society initiatives and by offering free legal services to victims of human rights violations as well as to human rights defenders around the world. Through its actions, the CIDDHU contributes to the consolidation of democracy throughout the world.

The CIDDHU works in collaboration with multiple organisations from around the world. It actively participates in the training of human rights defenders by insuring they have the necessary tools to accomplish this multifaceted work.

The CIDDHU’s participants can be asked to do legal research and drafting, to prepare thematic reports, to bring actions or complaints before international human rights authorities or to provide human rights education to the public or politicians.
